Short information in English about the events in Ryazan

In the city of Ryazan (Russian Federation) an initiative group «For tobacco free Ryazan» was started early this year. Besides other activities the initiative group addressed the executives of local advertising agencies inviting them to join the action «For tobacco free Ryazan» and to stop advertising tobacco or to diminish the harmful impact of the advertising. Though positive first reaction the advertising agencies executives started a double game and accused the leader of the initiative group Mr. Yuriy Zelenkevich of threatening their business. A criminal investigation was started. Local lawyer's interpretation of the situation is that this criminal investigation is not to get it to the court but to put pressure upon the initiative group to stop the action «For tobacco free Ryazan».
